Laak Jom Collection

Designed by Bibi Seck for Chanel’s le19M initiative, the Laak Jom collection reimagines sustainable craft through the lens of African design. Created in partnership with Waste&Hope, the series—featuring a bench, lounge chair, and tables—blends shredded, non-recyclable plastics with birch plywood into bold, elemental forms. Presented at Design Parade Toulon, the pieces are colored in distinct marbled tones and named after a women's farming cooperative in Senegal. Laak Jom, meaning “courageous women” in Serer, is both a celebration of material innovation and community strength.
